Rood End Community Association Meeting
Thursday 29th April at 6pm in St John’s Halls, St John’s Road, Rood End |
| |
We’re very pleased to announce that Urban Living has agreed to fund a Community Champions project for Rood End!
This will involve community events and chances to get to know your neighbours, as
well as activities to improve the look of the area, like opportunities to plant bulbs and make hanging baskets.

| Wednesday 19th August saw the launch of the Rood End Community Champions Project. Community Champions are Rood End residents who are interested in getting involved in making the area a nicer place to live and work.
The event started with a community clean-up and litter-pick, which saw teams gathering at St John’s Community Centre, putting on hi-vis jackets and collecting litter from every street in the neighbourhood. Mark Blades of Sandwell’s Highways and Environment division confirmed that ¼ ton of waste was collected by the groups. Particular thanks go to the St John’s Scout Group, which was out in force. |

Following the litter pick, the groups gathered back at St John’s for a celebration event and fun afternoon with a bouncy castle, face painting and sports activities which were provided by Warley Rugby Football Club.
“A great event– it was really gratifying to see all of that litter off the streets and everyone seemed to get into the spirit of the event.”
“I thought the launch went really well and I was amazed at how much rubbish was collected. It really got the residents together to do something positive for the area.”
If you would like to know more or to become a Champion, please contact Liz on 0121 544 1988 or email enquiries@roodendca.org.uk.
